5 Tips on How to Decorate your Newlywed Apartment

Share

Decorating a whole new apartment with your sweetheart can be one of the most wonderful projects that you’ll get to do together when you get married. However, it is important to take this endeavor seriously as well, because it is still a project that requires some neat planning as well as purchasing the desired furniture, materials, accessories, and so on.

A word of caution for the newlyweds is necessary – never, and I mean never forget about the fact that all this is a matter of compromise. Just like your entire relationship up until now, this had to be done so that both of you are happy with the final result. It may sound silly, but misunderstandings here can lead to unnecessary quarrels that might ruin what should otherwise be an amazing time for two lovebirds.

1. Decide what you both like

So, for starters, both of you should sit down and discuss your ideas. It is important to determine what you like, what you don’t, and what you can do with for the sake of the other party. Basically, you need to combine your two favorite styles into something that works.

The keyword here is being open-minded. Listen to what your loved one thinks and share what you have in mind. This is an opportunity to try new things and it might even surprise you what you’ll end up liking once you open up for new concepts and ideas.

2. Do some window shopping

If you don’t have fully-realized ideas just yet for decorating apartment, you can spend time outside checking out various shops for what might become a full-blown concept. In order to stick to what we have previously discussed, you have to come up with a system. Basically, every opinion should be valued and needs to be stated in a compassionate manner. Don’t laugh about what your spouse thinks, likes, or wants, and especially don’t judge them!

This needs to be one of the ways you two are going to strengthen your bond. You will learn more about each other, so make use of this time the best you can.

3. Pick an enticing color scheme

The choice of color can do wonders for your new apartment. You can browse the internet and find some inspiration looking at all the amazing photos of apartments that others have come up with. Or, you can look at your favorite piece of furniture and match other things with it.

Warm colors can create an amazing atmosphere for the rooms. Your bedroom, in particular, should be painted in something that arouses sensuality and romantic feelings. You can also choose to go for a more luxurious look and pick colors such as gold or burgundy.

4. Choose the right accessories

There is a wide variety of accessories that you can implement into the décor of your love nest. The main idea is to inject both of your personalities as much as possible into the space you’ve got. Get some important personal items and decorate the shelves with them. Photos are always a good idea.

Other than that, you should express your unique style through the items you choose while decorating apartment. Think of the materials that you want to use for particular items. Maybe you’d like to introduce some stunning wood tables, chairs, and lockers into your room? Maybe looking into sheet metal fabrication for some stylish lamps and decorative surfaces is your thing? Are you a fan of big fuzzy rugs that accentuate floors? Everything is an option if you both agree it fits.

5. Get just the right bed

Of course, the central piece of your love nest is the bed that you are going to sleep in. It is supposed to be the most passionate, intimate, and voluptuous spot in your apartment. For example, you can get an enticing headboard. Get some lush linens and a blanket in order to be as comfy as possible.

You can experiment with the walls and make sure that the one behind the bed is bolder and more emphasized. If you’d like, you could also put up some wonderful photos of the two of you on it, so that they bring back those cherished memories from your past.

Final words

Your newlywed apartment is going to be the place where you’ll be spending most of your time together. It is supposed to be a refuge for both of you. A place where you get to leave the outside world behind and spend quality time with each other. So, don’t enter the whole process of putting the place together by arguing over little things while decorating apartment. Talk, exchange ideas, and of course, compromise.

After all, the greatest focus is on the relationship itself. The apartment is the place where it gets to truly bloom.
