Does your bathroom make you feel cramped? Maybe it’s a little cluttered, or maybe your needs have just outgrown your small bathroom. We understand remodeling can be an aggravating, time and money-consuming process. But with our 7 unique tips provided in this article, you can modernize your bathroom while making it feel and look much bigger than it really is!
1. Adding Mirror Walls
An easy way to make your small bathroom feel less crowded is by adding a mirror wall. With a mirror wall, not only will you double the look of your small bathroom but also the feel. Most of the time, when a mirror wall is added it will be above a vanity or along one side of a narrow bathroom. And since these mirror walls reflect light, your bathroom will seem much more open with better lighting.
2. Proper Lighting
Another unique trick to making your bathroom feel bigger is to have good lighting, and if possible, a window or skylight. You can also include some quiet patterns and/or horizontal lines to give an airy atmosphere. Ironically, if you use large tiles in a small bathroom, it can make the room feel and look much bigger since the tiles aren’t as busy as others.
3. Lose the Tub
If this isn’t your only bath in your home, you should consider having it removed and installing a tile shower in its place. By placing the same tile for the bathroom floor in the shower too, you can make space feel much bigger. However, if you cannot remove the tub, you can opt for a lower profile tub; this way, your children and other guests can use the tub when needed. The lower height also makes it easier to get in and out of the tub, increases the room space, and makes it easy to give your pets a bath!
4. Wall-Mounted Sinks
A wall-mounted sink is another brilliant way to increase the usable space in your bathroom. Not only will this allow for more floor room, but it’s a great way to add storage space. By having a big sink with wide edges, you can have enough counter space for your makeup, bottles, toothbrush and toothpaste, and other essentials. And to save yourself from having a cluttered mess, you can add a lidded basket underneath the sink for cleaning supplies and other items.
5. Curb less Showers with Continuous Floors
A stylish, yet modern, way to make your bathroom feel bigger is to remove the curb from around your shower and have a continuous floor. This method works best with concrete, tile, and stone slab floors. You can incorporate an infinity-edge or concealed drain for a more seamless look. Not only will this open your bathroom up, but this shower type is much easier to clean than most.
6. Wall-Mounted Toilets
While they may be unheard of, wall-mounted toilets are gaining quite a bit of popularity among homeowners. If you have any available wall space, you can use it to build your toilet tank. Wall-mounted toilets save leg room, floor space, and make your bathroom seem roomy. If you do not have any available wall space, you can also add shelves above your current tank for additional storage.
7. Add an Accent Wall
One of our favorite bathroom design ideas is to have an accent wall. This is an excellent way to add a pop of color to your small bathroom! But for a smaller bathroom, you’ll want to add your accent wall on the back wall. Depending on what you prefer, you can add color to the entire wall or just have a band of color using paint or colorful tile. If you add an accent wall, be sure to leave the remaining walls simple with light colors and no designs.
