Blocked drains are common issues that you may encounter in your day-to-day life. It is not only unhygienic but also causes a foul smell, and it can spread bacteria and germs in your home.

● You should never flush toiletries like wet wipes, sanitary, diapers in your toilet, as this may cause blocking of the toilet.

● The accumulation of your hair strands in the drain can block your drainage system.

● Sometimes your kid may throw his or her toys, soap or other material in the toilet and flush them. It causes an obstruction which leads to the blocked drain.

● Tree roots may not directly cause any blockage, but they can damage the underground pipelines, causing a blockage.

● Improper installation of pipelines or broken pipes may hinder the draining of waste. It results in the collection of waste in that area leading to a blocked drain.

● Grease waste like cooking oil or fatty substances can block the flow of liquid and can cause overflowing. Moreover, you should ensure that food scraps are disposed of in the dustbin instead of draining them into your kitchen sink.

1) Plungers

You can use a plunger to remove the solid waste from the toilet. However, it doesn’t clear the layer of grease or oil from the walls of your drains, and you can use hot water to clean them properly.

2) Hot water

You can boil the water and pour it into the sink to clear the drains without chemicals. Moreover, the boiling water also loosens up the accumulated layer of grease, soap, or food build-ups. If you have the fitting of PVC pipes, then don’t use hot water; instead, pour warm water into the drain.

3) Natural and Caustic Cleanser

First, pour hot water into the drain, then use a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. Cover the drain with the plug for approximately 10 minutes and finish the process by pouring more hot water. In addition, you can buy chemical cleansers from the market, make sure you cover your hands and face while using such harmful chemicals.

By following these basic prevention methods, you can keep your drainage system clean and properly functioning. Furthermore, by keeping a check on u-bend pipes and cleaning it regularly, using high-pressure jet water or wire hangers, calling professional plumber for blocked drains solution.
