What Are Loop Pile Rugs?

Loop pile rugs are created by inserting the carpet fibers in a loop. These loops can be in various heights, but usually, the loops are woven tight and flat. What makes loop pile rugs so popular is that their tight weaving means footprints and vacuum lines won’t show, and there’s much beauty in their simplicity.

However, loop pile rugs aren’t very soft and can feel rough on the feet. In addition, due to their looping, they can get snagged, ruining their simple flatness.  

What Are Cut Pile Rugs?

Cut pile rugs are made in the same way as loop pile rugs. The difference is that the manufacturer cuts off the tops of the loops, exposing the soft insides of the carpet fiber. These carpets can also have different fiber lengths for additional texture.

These carpets add wonderful texture to any room and are much softer and more comfortable than loop pile carpets. However, these carpets will show footprints and vacuum lines very easily, and it can be difficult to remove stains.

Which Should You Choose?

Having this type of rug will save you time and headaches while cleaning. However, for bathrooms, bedrooms, and other places you want to cozy up, cut pile rugs are the right choice, as their softness and texture add luxury and comfort.
