Our earth has a mixture of land and since the population is increasing but the land is not so people are accepting even the weakest land. Constructing home on weak land is not at all safe and it can even end up destroying your home and can even cause death.

On the other hand, the population has risen so high that there is no second option left other than adjusting in all types of land. Now it is a fact that not all land type is suitable for building construction no matter whether your land is strong or weak but certain points can make it not suitable for your home.

Luckily the architects have been introduced to pile foundation which seems to be boon for not suitable lands. It is due to piling foundations that now architects can construct a home on any type of land irrespective of any such complication. This is an important part of the construction and no matter whether you have chosen a good land or bad but it is always better to get the pile foundation of your building done.

If you are not sure about pile foundation, then here is everything that you need to know about it:

What is a pile foundation?

Pile foundation is simply the deepest support of the land below the construction and most of the time people invest in good pile foundation when the land is weak or not suitable for construction. It creates a strong base for the construction so that the soil could not stop or ruin the construction.

It is because of the pile foundation that now people are not worried about wetland or weak land. However, the claim of natural disaster-proof is still a bit confusing as no matter how strong your house base and house is but it can still get affected by the natural disaster.

People often get confused between pile foundation and pier foundation as both of them serves with almost the same purpose but both the things look quite different. If you would examine both the things, then you would be able to find out that pile foundation is the better choice for the perfect base of your home. You would be amazed to know that there several types of pile foundations available and they vary in the material so you can always choose the best for your home.

Your architect would suggest you the best after examining the type of home and the type of land on which he would have to construct your home. Just like the right foundation can make the base of your home perfect, the wrong pile foundation material for your home can ruin your home. It is very important to determine the type of pile foundation that would go best with your home as well as, the soil and only an expert can suggest you about this.

So there are some disadvantages and advantages of pile foundation that you need to know before getting it for your home:

The common advantages of pile foundation

1. You can reshape or pre-shape it before using it:

The best thing about this has to be the advantage of pre-shaping it which ensures that you can use this for any type of land and if need then you can even change the shape of the pile. If you haven’t got it ready, then you can get it shaped as per your requirements which are a great thing. This proves to be best for those who are not sure about the type of home they would be constructing.

2. The flexibility of shape and size

You never know how deep foundation you would need for better construction of your home so here this kind of pile foundation proves to be best. This can be reshaped and resized so even if you got small one so you can always get the bigger size as well for the construction. Most of the time the base often fails to match with the size of the foundation and so architect often has to break and add materials but in this case, this would not be the scene.

3. This would correct your soil problems

The most common reason of getting pile foundation is the soil fault and most of the time it has been seen that people go for wetlands and rocky land instead of the smooth one as they cost cheaper than the normal soil.

On the other hand, the availability of soil also matters a lot in this case as the good lands are already occupied so people have to adjust in the faulty land that is left. Pile foundation is a solution in this case as it makes the soil suitable for the construction of your home with a perfect base.

4. Creation of perfect base for your home

With pile foundation, you would also be able to get a proper base which would need the least labor and this is less time-consuming at the same time. This can be done with minimum labor effort the overall process seems to be very cheap and so with this foundation, you would be able to save up some of your money.

This can be a good choice for areas where you cannot drill that much on land:

Wetlands are hard to work with but with this foundation, you would not have to be worried about the wetland cause. This can get installed even when drilling on the soil is not safe and this would let you prepare the perfect base without disturbing the high groundwater level.

Disadvantages of pile foundation

1. Pre-Planning is very important

You would have to pre-plan size and the depth of the base so that you can get the perfect sized pile foundation and if you would not do so then you would have to trouble while getting the home constructed.

If the drainage of the land is not proper, then you may not want to work with this foundation as they are hard to work with the poor draining system of the land.

You would have to work with heavy machines if you have chosen the pile foundation for your home and often such machines are hard to work with so you have to be careful about this.
