3 Tips for Upgrading Your Kitchen To Make It Look Great

Share

While you may have ideas of your dream kitchen dancing in your head or photos pinned to a Pinterest board, a full-fledged renovation may not be in the cards right now.

That isn’t to say there isn’t something you can do. There are a few simple methods to modernize your kitchen without having to overhaul it. Here are some tips for upgrading your kitchen to make it look great.

1. Paint Your Cabinets

Painting cabinets is one of the most cost-effective ways to update a kitchen. There are practically infinite color options, ranging from white to blue to two-tone appearances. Bring paint samples home with you and examine them in the light all day.

How does the color appear in both natural and artificial light? Choose a hue that works well in both environments, complements your motif, and goes well with your fixtures, appliances, and countertops.

One of the most time-consuming DIY projects is painting cabinet boxes, doors, and drawer faces (totaling about three days when you include curing time). Even yet, if you’re willing to put in the effort, it’s one of the most apparent and rewarding changes.

2. Switch Out the Cabinet Hardware

Add flavor to your kitchen by replacing builder-grade knobs and drawer pulls with new or vintage hardware. You can turn old doors into new-looking cabinets in only a few minutes.

Plus, the finish of your sink and appliances don’t have to match the hardware. Mixing metals in your kitchen decor, such as brass handles with black equipment, gives visual intrigue.

The majority of households deal with drawer pulls and cabinet door knobs on a daily basis. So choose a style that is easy to clean and matches the drill length (the space between drill holes) of the old hardware. However, if you want to change the style, fill the holes and drill new ones.

3. Find New Fabrics

A kitchen isn’t quite home until you hang a towel in front of the oven. Hand towels, rugs, and upholstered barstools are examples of fabric finishings that give tenderness to the area.

To keep your rug in place and add extra softness, place a slip-resistant mat underneath it. You may also buy machine-washable rugs to keep your newly renovated kitchen looking brand new.

Hopefully, you have enjoyed this recap of the tips for upgrading your kitchen to make it look great! Now that you’ve worked on your kitchen, you may have an itch to keep the party going. Next, consider redesigning your home office or living room with furniture to match your newly designed kitchen.
