4 Simple Summer Decorating Ideas To Help Cool Down

Share

At home, you often sit and enjoy your air conditioning while binge-watching another season of your favorite show.

However, you might still feel hot on some days. Instead of letting the home become hot and depressing, try these simple decorating ideas to help cool down this summer.

1. Keep the Elements Out

The house doesn’t need pollen or dust floating around, and there shouldn’t be hot air pouring in from outside. If you want a cooler home, try installing black-out shades to keep sunlight minimal.

If you enjoy sitting on the porch, having a fan helps circulate the air and keep the area cool. Additionally, add a window tint to block the UV rays. Window tints also help with privacy by preventing others from looking into your home.

2. Get Your Room Summer Ready

Every other room may be ready for summer besides your bedroom. This space needs the summer-ready treatment. You may already have five blankets on your bed from winter, but when it’s warmer outside, you need to swap those out for lighter comforters.

Even though the fan’s blowing on you, it’s best to have lightweight materials covering you to avoid uncomfortable sweating. Focus on using cotton sheets, pillows, and blankets, and pick light shades, such as white or yellow ones.

3. Paint Your Walls and Add Color to Furniture

Whether the siding needs a new color or the home’s interior, painting the walls can set a better mood for all dwellers and makes a room feel more relaxed. Lighter colors help a lot with sunlight beaming through long windows since it gently reflects off them without creating too much heat around the room.

Also, summer calls for thinner fabrics, such as linen blankets and colorful pillow covers. If you love the beach, you may want to alter your color scheme to fit the theme. For instance, you can use earth tones and colors that match things in the ocean, such as white and blue for the waves.

4. Set Up Cool Spaces for Pets

Pets also need spaces to cool down. Instead of sending them to a dark corner or under a bed, where many miscellaneous items make things cramped, you should create a space in a shady corner. All you need to do is place a bed with light materials and a water bowl nearby.

It’s essential to create a cooler home this summer. By using these simple decorating ideas, you can enjoy sitting inside the entire season. Summer’s no fun if you’re inside sweating all day—make it better with these modifications.
