4 Ways To Organize and Customize Your Closet

Are you looking to make your closet match the rest of the tone inside your home? You’ve organized every other room, but the closet is pure chaos.

You might have a method to the madness, but there are four easy ways to organize and customize your closet to make things easier for you.

1. Shelves Are Your Friend

Adding shelves to your closet creates more space than you think. It won’t look smaller or limited. The shelves create space for you to place your belongings in a designated spot. Now you don’t have to fling them everywhere or even hang them up on the rack that is running out of room.

You can even take it a step further and install some closet compartments. With these compartments, you customize your closet to your liking, and you can separate your clothes based on seasons or color coordinate everything. With these systems, you won’t have to waste an hour trying to decide what to wear and figuring out what goes with what!

2. Make a Shoe Station

Instead of having your shoes on the floor, make a station for them. This organizer does not necessarily have to be on the floor. You can place your shoe rack on the door of your closet or dedicate a set of shelves to your shoes.

It’s best to keep them off the floor. When you place them on the floor, it’s easy to throw them wherever and not keep them organized. Placing your shoes high up forces you to give them structure. And keeping them in your line of sight also helps you browse them to complete your outfit for the day.

3. Treat It Like a Bedroom

Who says a closet can’t be like a second bedroom? If you want to customize your closet, you need to give it some personality. Your clothes are not the only thing that can make a statement. You can paint and decorate your closet the way you would your bedroom.

Add a rug or a place to sit down. Change out the lighting and add a couple of lamps inside. These few tweaks to your closet will give it a relaxed vibe. Take it a step further and add a few candles. Your clothes will always smell like a combination of detergent and whatever scent you’re burning. Make sure they complement each other.

4. Words of Affirmation

When you look good, you feel good, and you need to remind yourself of that. Placing daily affirmation notes inside your closet is a great way to get your day started. As you’re getting ready, you’ll glance over at a note that will remind you of your worth.

Change them out to match whatever goals you are after for that current month. If you need some encouragement on the job or in your relationships, find some words of encouragement and stick them where you can see them. Keep a couple of standard ones, too, about something you need to regularly remind yourself of.

Make your closet balanced and peaceful like the rest of your home. Add personal touches to organize and customize this room of your home.
