Molds are a health hazard. They trigger a slew of health conditions including respiratory problems and allergies. Plagued by a lack of ventilation and excess moisture, they can grow almost on any surface. You can find them on paper, clothes, wood, plastic, etc.

While most of us feel embarrassed talking about mold growth in our houses, all of us have fought similar battles. If you are facing a mold problem in your house, don’t feel shy to talk about it. It is a menace, all of us have dealt with.

That is why all of us understand how annoying mold can be. It grows in any place that holds moisture and lacks ventilation. What better place to offer such favorable conditions than bathrooms. That is why bathrooms are especially susceptible to molds. This perfect breeding ground offers a steady supply of moisture and most times lacks any kind of ventilation.

Sadly, it also multiplies very fast. So, if you witness any signs of mold growth in your bathroom, act vigilantly. Instead of wasting time by goofing around, reach out to professional mold removers.

To put things into perspective, molds are waiting around to grow in your bathrooms. If you see no signs right now, make sure you implement these tricks to prevent any mold growth in the future as well.

1. Install a Fan

The first line of defense against moisture in your bathroom is a fan. So, begin your mold patrol by installing a vent in all the bathrooms of your house. It will suck all the moisture from the surface and the air and throw it outside.

To understand which fan will work best for your bathroom, check the fan’s cubic feet per minute count of the fan before purchase. It will essentially help you choose the best fan for your bathroom space. Don’t get a fan that is too small to suck the moisture from all the surfaces of your bathroom. Otherwise, you’ve just wasted money.

2. Use Fan Properly

One thing is to purchase and install a fan in your bathroom and another is to actually use it properly. Don’t be cheap and switch it off the moment you leave the bathroom. If you want your bathroom to be spic and span, you need to let it run for atleast half an hour post your shower.

This way the fan will have enough time to suck all the leftover moisture from the ceiling, walls, and other surfaces in the bathroom. A convenient way to carry this practice out effectively is to set the fan on a timer.  This way you don’t have to go back to the washroom and switch off the fan.

3. Squeegee Wipers

Use squeegees to ensure that there is no moisture outstanding on a surface in your washroom. This can be very annoying especially when you are in a rush in the morning. But this way you will make sure that you do not provide favorable conditions for mold to grow in your bathroom.

It will only take a few minutes to wipe off surfaces after you use the washroom. There is a lot of dampness you can get rid using wipers. Make it a habit to clean your bathroom after every use and you will never have a mold problem in your house.

4. Open Windows

If your bathroom has a window, make sure you make good use of it. To prevent mold in bathroom, controlling humidity levels is essential. So, if you do not have the budget to purchase a dehumidifier, use windows to improve ventilation.

Fresh air and sunlight will help keep the humidity levels in check but make sure you close it after some time. Proper ventilation will do most of the job and save you from mold growth trouble.

4. Wash Towels

There is no substitute for good hygiene. Make sure you follow proper bathroom hygiene whenever you use the room. If you keep this in check you won’t have to worry about molds.

To begin with, clean towels regularly as molds can grow on clothing surfaces very quickly. Do not keep damp towels in your bathroom. If you do that, you are basically inviting molds to infest your bathroom. Health doctors suggest that people should wash their towels at least two times a week.

5. Dry Out Surfaces

Molds grow on moist surfaces. So, do not let water sit on any surface of your bathroom for long durations. Make sure you clean all the surfaces after you take shower. This may seem like a lot of work but this is something that will save you from all the mold trouble. And it will prevent mold in bathroom.
