Shopping for Luxury Doors: 4 Reasons Why You Should Go for Steel

Luxury doors have quickly taken the market by storm and for good reasons. They have brought a new side to doors, that they aren’t just entryways. Suddenly, doors make statements of beauty while serving the usual roles.

The market is definitely flooded with luxury doors made of wood while the commercial ones are made with aluminum. Most people go for these doors while steel doors are not glanced at as often. This is because they are considered too heavy, too expensive, or not beautiful.

Well, this couldn’t be further from the truth. One, steel doors are not as heavy as they are thought to be. They are relatively light and can be customized into all styles and sizes. In most cases, steel doors tend to be less expensive than luxury doors fashioned from solid wood. If that’s not enough, here is more proof why you should go for steel luxury doors:

1. High traffic environments

If the purpose of the door is to allow entry in a high-traffic environment, then look no further. Steel doors outperform all other contenders. In cycle tests, that is how a door performs when opened and shut multiple times on its frame, steel doors beat wooden doors fair and square.

In “cycle” tests of a million, steel doors were resilient up to ten million cycles. This means that once you purchase a steel door, you’re assured of decades of never having to seek repairs because they have a solid performance. Durability also helps save on maintenance and repair costs.

2. Performance in fire

You probably would have a simple idea of how steel doors perform in fires. Steel doors are fire-resistant. When tested for 20 minutes, steel doors slam the three-hour standard, making it an ideal choice.

The three hour standard in the construction industry is the gold standard when it comes to fire protection. If your home needs top-notch fire safety, then steel doors are both safe and cheap compared to other types of doors.

3. Sound

Nobody can say no to a quiet environment. In fact, quiet environments are known to improve your health and productivity. To establish how, say windows, perform in noisy environments, they are tested for STC or Sound Transmission Coefficient. The higher the STC, the better the window is at blocking sound.

Steel doors are the indomitable champions as they boast of the highest STC ratings (up to 55STC, which is the quietest it can get) compared to any other door material. This means they are as effective as a double stud wall that’s filled with insulation in effectively sealing out unwanted noise.

4. Maintenance

Steel has natural strength, so it generally outperforms all kinds of door materials in countering natural or man-made abuse. Furthermore, maintenance on steel doors is easier than on aluminum, wood, or on fiberglass doors.

In fact, steel doesn’t dent or crack as much as they do. This means that steel doors have a longer life-span and generally have lower costs of ownership. You’ll forget those random and inconvenient maintenance practices.

Steel doors are, without a doubt, very sturdy, versatile, and quite practical. And if you have a penchant for wooden or fiberglass doors for how stylish they are, you’ll be surprised to know that steel is just as stylish. Steel doors can be fashioned to feature decorative features, so they stand their ground against their counterparts.
